Senior Technology Underwriter

Role Purpose
An experienced Multinational Underwriter is required to join the London Technology Underwriting Team, specialising in Cyber and Professional Indemnity for Technology companies. The successful candidate will be responsible for growing the portfolio with key brokers and clients while maintaining and developing existing accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Technology Manager to drive production opportunities and devise strategies for five-year growth ambitions within the company's Industry Practices.
- Underwrite new business and renewals according to defined underwriting guidelines, specified budgets and local business plans.
- Demonstrate strong leadership in directing and placing business, managing insured and producer relationships, and mentoring team members.
- Assist in formulating underwriting strategy, forecasts and portfolio management to achieve underwriting profitability.
- Ensure quality control via underwriting reviews, management meetings and peer reviews.
- Develop and prioritise products within specialist areas to improve client retention and new business.
- Represent and promote the company to brokers, internal and external clients, servicing key producers, monitoring business acquisition and maximising cross-selling opportunities.
- Manage key facility relationships.
- Ensure compliance with company standards regarding policy documentation, quotation timeframes, peer reviews and regulatory requirements.
- Manage junior colleagues through mentoring, training and coaching.
- Provide technical leadership for underwriting, risk referrals and portfolio management within the evolving Technology Sector.
Skills & Experience Required
- A recognised professional with a strong external market presence and a minimum of five years' underwriting experience.
- Experience in developing marketing plans and handling complex multiline accounts.
- Comprehensive understanding of Technology Professional Indemnity and Cyber insurance, with a willingness to develop knowledge in Property and Casualty.
- Experience in underwriting multinational programmes preferred.
- Extensive experience in the London Insurance market, including knowledge of competitors, brokers and clients.
- Strong business skills including communication, organisation, IT, presentation and negotiation.
- Ability to cross-sell across the company and understand underwriting appetite across various departments.
- Results-driven with the ability to make independent decisions and work on own initiative.
- Experience in leadership, training, mentoring and people development.
- ACII qualification preferred but not essential.
