Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Head of Governance and Risk to lead and develop our organisation's governance, compliance, and risk management framework. This is a critical role that ensures the organisation operates with integrity, transparency, and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement governance and risk management strategies across the organisation.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice standards.
- Provide expert advice to the board, senior leadership team, and stakeholders on governance and risk matters.
- Establish and oversee risk management policies, frameworks, and procedures.
- Monitor organisational risk and implement mitigating strategies where necessary.
- Lead on internal audits, governance reviews, and compliance assessments.
- Develop policies to ensure accountability, transparency, and ethical business practices.
- Manage relationships with external regulatory bodies and auditors.
- Deliver training and awareness programmes on governance, risk, and compliance.
- Support board and executive committees to ensure good governance practices are upheld.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior governance, risk, or compliance role within the housing sector.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, governance codes, and risk management principles.
- Experience in board-level engagement and advising senior executives on governance matters.
- Ability to develop and implement governance strategies effectively.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience managing audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance reporting.
- Professional qualification in governance, risk, or compliance (e.g. ICSA, IRM, or equivalent) is desirable.
- Knowledge of housing sector governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
