Student Systems Manager | £55k - £60k | Remote

We are supporting a university on exclusive basis who are in the market for two Test Analysts to work on a well-defined implementation of a new Student Management System. The successful candidates will be led by a skilled test manager who is currently outlining testing plan & strategy, governance and framework.

Summary of the role:

Employment Type: Permanent

Location: Remote - periodic visit to Kent area

Salary: £42,217 - £49,381 - Inclusive of London weighting allowance

What we need to see (Essential):

  • Leadership skillsets or experience leading SRS team (Ellucian Banner, Tribal SITS, Peoplesoft, etc)
  • Strong understanding of the student lifecycle
  • Experience managing & influencing stakeholder at all levels including 3rd party IT vendors
  • Experience managing budget and resource allocation

The Role

Reporting to the Programme Director and managing two roles; you will be responsible for the operational leadership of the development team that deliver and supports SITS from technical design, development and operational support. This role would be ideal for someone that likes to lead by example and still be hands on with SITS Development.

The university recently re implemented SITS and have transitioned to BAU to conduct enhancement to SITS and evision. They've got established release cycle managed by Azure DevOps and GIT, and which sees them load changes into production weekly. The Development team is comprised of 6 developers who are technically able and experience. The team fits within the wider IT which consist of SMEs, DBA, solutions architect (focusing on integration) and support officers. As well as this the team works closely with the testing team and Registry.

You will be the "face" of SITS Development within the organisation whereby attending 3rd party meetings to enhance the universities current offering from systems user experience perspective, understanding and review current processes to ensure implications of new models are reviewed.

As part of the university's 2030 vision they have a mix of projects work and continuous improvement work in the pipeline that are not limited to the following:

  1. Re implementing SITS academic model, rather than following the rigid structured standard academic year; there are long and short courses with varying start and end dates being offered.
  2. Enhancement work for registration
  3. Student finance build and enhancement work
  4. Ad hoc business change and process change requests

What we would like to see (Desirable):

  • Demonstrable official line management experience
  • Experience with Tribal SITS student management system
  • Experience undergoing major transformation project / business operational changes - implementation or business systems
  • Experience managing contractors and permanent members of staff
  • Experience working in Agile environment
