Senior Test Engineer - (London)
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Test Engineer to join a dynamic team in the media industry. This is a 6-month contract role based in London, Greater London, United Kingdom, with hybrid working arrangements requiring one day a week in the office. The role offers a competitive daily rate of £380. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be working on authentication and authorisation microservices built with JavaScript and Node.js, deployed using AWS, and providing APIs and audience-facing applications. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality and performance of these microservices by leveraging automated testing techniques.
The role is part of a multi-disciplinary squad consisting of QAs, front-end and back-end engineers, user experience specialists, a product owner, and a delivery manager. Together, the team is responsible for delivering high-quality, personalised user experiences.
Key Skills and Responsibilities
Essential Skills
- Strong knowledge of testing frameworks and libraries, particularly Playwright and Node.js.
- Experience coding in Java.
- Proficiency in testing REST APIs using RestAssured.
- Expertise in automated performance testing.
- Experience working with AWS services and cloud testing.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments and testing.
- Ability to work efficiently in an Agile team.
- Commitment to high quality and testing standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve cross-team issues.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with contract testing using PACT.
- Knowledge of Cypress and Jest testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with security testing tools such as ZAP.
- Proficiency in exploratory testing techniques.
- Ability to collaborate and share insights with other testers.
- Strong analytical mindset with a keen attention to detail.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring team members.
Experience
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as a Senior Test Engineer, ideally in the media industry.
- In-depth understanding of software development frameworks and methodologies.
- Ability to contribute to the development of business scenarios and testing strategies.
- Hands-on experience with software development tools and technologies.
- An adaptable and curious approach to problem-solving.
