Property Pricing Actuary - London
Overview:
This role is primarily responsible for actuarial pricing, offering support to the Head of Pricing and underwriting teams to optimize profitability across the business. The individual will lead the day-to-day development and maintenance of pricing models across all casualty lines. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, growing team at a pivotal time as the company aims for substantial growth and builds a pricing function to support these ambitious objectives. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, with a passion for continuous improvement. There is potential for future line management responsibilities as the team expands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide pricing and analytical support to various underwriting teams, including Property Open Market, Property Facilities, Property Treaty, Marine Treaty, Energy, and Specialty.
- Develop and enhance pricing tools for assessing price adequacy and rate changes.
- Perform portfolio and transactional pricing analyses, including case pricing.
- Review and evaluate the methodologies and assumptions applied in property and specialty pricing.
- Ensure pricing model documentation remains up-to-date and accurate.
- Represent the pricing team effectively and build strong working relationships with underwriting teams.
- Adhere to IFoA standards and ensure compliance with PRA/FCA Conduct Standards.
- Progress towards the completion of IFoA professional exams, as applicable.
Experience & Skills:
- Nearly or newly qualified actuary with experience in pricing within the Lloyd's and/or London market.
- Strong understanding of actuarial and statistical techniques used in pricing.
- Proficiency in Excel and VBA.
- Coding experience (Python, R, etc.) is advantageous.
- Previous property pricing experience is a plus.
- Collaborative team player, supporting colleagues to meet team and business objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex actuarial concepts into business or underwriting language
